• Drake's basketball team
continues its two-game Missouri Valley Conference homestand Saturday
against Missouri State in the 46th meeting between the teams.
• Missouri State travels to Des Moines with a
3-11 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the Missouri Valley after falling
in overtime, 62-59, at Evansville on Wednesday. The Bears opened MVC
play with a 70-59 victory over Southern Illinois.
• Drake dropped a 75-63 decision to Wichita State on Wednesday to fall to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the MVC.
• A strong WSU defensive effort hampered the
Bulldogs’ veterans, but the team’s freshmen chipped in with 35 points
thanks to 15 and 14 points from Joey King and Micah Mason, respectively.
• The Bulldogs are one of the most accurate
three-point shooting teams in the nation at 39.9 percent to rank second
in the MVC and 16th nationally.
• Drake has made 10 or more three-pointers in a game five times this season and twice in its last four games.
• Ben Simons leads Drake with 14.5 points per game and has scored in double figures in 12-of-13 games this season.
• The Bulldogs’ rebounding has also seen an
upward trend with an average of 39.5 rebounds in the last two games,
including a season-high 46 at Bradley.
• Jordan Clarke has led that rebounding
effort for most of the season as the senior leads the Bulldogs and MVC
in rebounding with 8.4 per game.
• Missouri State’s offense is averaging just
58.4 points per game, the fewest in the MVC. Anthony Downing leading
all scorers with 13.3 points per game.
