A second second-half surge and 15 three-point baskets allowed Illinois State to defeat Drake, 76-64, Tuesday night at Bloomington, Ill. The loss dropped Drake's Missouri Valley Conference record to 0-9. The Bulldogs' overall record is 5-16. Illinois State [12-10, 6-3 in the Valley], which came into the game shooting 31.7 percent from the three-point arc on the season, was 15-of-28 [53.6 percent] from the arc with leading scorer MiKyle McIntosh going 4-of-4 from three-point range for 25 points. “They’re more athletic than us at every spot, so we have to do some things differently to have a chance,” said Drake coach Ray Giacoletti of the Bulldogs’ initial defensive strategy to force three-point shot attempts. Reed Timmer led Drake with 19 points.
