I'm thinking Bill Self is wearing the wrong hairpiece these days. His No. 4-ranked Kansas basketball team isn't looking all that good. And that's just fine with Iowa State and its fans.Whatever wig Self was wearing tonight at Hilton Coliseum--good one or bad one--the 14th-ranked Cyclones stormed to an 85-72 victory with a very impressive last half performance that was pretty darned hair-raising.. Sorry about that, Bill. I had to get that in. Kansas actually had a 7-point halftime lead, but was no match for Iowa State after that. The Cyclones wound up outscoring Kansas, 49-29, in the last half. This just didn't look like a Bill Self-coached team. Think about it, though. The Cyclones have been winners of four the past five games against Kansas. No other Big 12 Conference team has that kind of success against a squad coached by Self. As for Self's hair, or lack of it, former Iowa State coach Larry Eustachy told me a number of years ago that the Kansas coach wears a hairpiece. I've always believed everything Eustachy told me. As far as I know, Self has never admitted the rumors about his wig.
