“We are excited about this incoming class,” Drake coach
Jennie Baranczyk said. “Caitlin and Lizzie are great additions to
our team and the overall Drake community, and will help us moving
forward toward our future goals.”
Ingle
plays for Southeast Polk High School and has led the Rams to the
semifinals of the Iowa class 4-A state high school tournament the past
two years. She
was named first-team all-state her junior season after averaging 15 points,
six assists, three steals and 2.5 rebounds per game. Ingle was
recognized as the Female Athlete of the Year by the
Des Moines Area Sports Commission in its 2012 Central Iowa sports awards. Her older brother, Cole, played quarterback at Drake from 2004-08.
“Caitlin
is a point guard with an exceptional basketball IQ from an athletic
family that is no stranger to Drake athletics,” Baranczyk said. “She is a
highly
successful local player that has bled Drake blue since she was little,
and she fits in with our style of play and the campus.”
Wendell,
a forward for Blue Springs High School, led the Wildcats to
three-straight Missouri Class 5 runner-up finishes. A standout in
basketball, track
and field and volleyball, she, has garnered multiple all-state honors
in each sport.
“Lizzie
is an athletic scorer who fits in with our style of play and our team,”
Baranczyk said. “She has been a part of some very successful teams in
high
school and has also excelled at other sports. She will fit in perfectly
at Drake.”
The
Bulldogs return to action at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at the Knapp Center against Illinois-Chicago.
