Kyndal Clark’s (Webb City, Mo.) 25 points and Carly Grenfell’s (York City, Mo.) 20 helped the Drake women’s basketball team cruise to an 81-51 victory Wednesday night over Upper Iowa in its final exhibition game.
The
Bulldogs shot 50.8 percent from the field (33-of-65), 7-of-15 from the three-point
line. Junior guard Alyssa Marschner (Plymouth, Minn.) had a game-high nine assists.
The
Bulldogs outscored Upper Iowa,44-18, in the paint and 18-4 on fastbreak points. Drake turned the ball over just 14 times to Upper Iowa’s
24, forced 15
steals and blocked 11 shots.
Drake will host South Dakota at 2:05 p.m. in its first regular season game at the Knapp Center The Coyotes beat the Bulldogs in the opening round of the 2012 WNIT, 61-53, in Vermillion, S.D.
